Anaiis Cisco is a screenwriter, filmmaker from Brooklyn, NY. She is completing an MFA in Cinema at San Francisco State University, focusing on the experiences of underrepresented, racial, ethnic, queer, and gendered “minorities” in the United States. Her short film,  Breathless(2017), inspired by the murder of Eric Garner, has won numerous awards and screened at various film festivals. Cisco’s most recent short narrative, GYRL(2018), is a portrait of a pre-teen African American girl struggling with an abusive father. Currently in the early stages of production on her thesis film, Drip Like Coffee, explores Black womanhood, desire, and space, while rendering the Black female body as fluid. Cisco’s work continues to grapple with issues viewed as “unrepresentable” or “unwatchable.”  She is a recipient of a 2018 Princess Grace Award and Barbara Hammer Award.
